Ignore bad advisers, confirm Balang as Postmaster-General – Persons with disability beg Buhari

President Muhammadu Buhari has been urged to disregard the disability of Acting Postmaster-General of the Federation and confirm his appointment.
The President of Association for the Comprehensive Empowerment of Nigerians with Disability (ACEND), Mr Cosmas Okoli, made the call on Tuesday in Abuja in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).

He commended the recent appointments by the president, saying that it gave people living with disabilities a sense of belonging.

Okoli, however, said the president should go a step further by confirming the appointment of Dr Richard Balang as the substantive Postmaster-General “not because he is living with disability but because of his suitability”.

He urged various state governments to borrow a leaf from the President and replicate same in their respective states by giving gainful employment to people with disabilities, who were qualified.

”For the first time, we have a person with disability, actually someone on wheel chair, rise through the ranks in the federal civil service and become the acting Postmaster-General of the Federation.

”It is on record that his government has done well for the disabled people, more than any other government before it.

”That is why our association is going a step further to appeal that Dr Richard Balang be appointed the substantive Postmaster-General of the Federation.

”We are making this appeal because there is a lot of pressure on the president and the APC to appoint some politicians that worked for the party.

“But, a baby cannot be thrown away with the bath water in a bid to satisfy politicians,” he stated. (NAN)
