Niger Delta crises: You are out to destroy Nigeria’s future, return to Yar’Adua’s template – Group dares Buhari

A Niger Delta group known as United Niger Delta Energy Development Security Strategy, UNDEDSS, has accused President Muhammadu Buhari of trying to disintegrate the country by his continuous deployment of military to region, stressing that he should return to the template of the late former President, Musa Yar’Adua in handling the crises in the region.
In a statement by its Secretary General, Tony Uranta yesterday, the group claimed that the Buhari-led Federal Government through its handling of the crises in the Niger Delta region was toiling with the unity and future of the country.

Uranta said, “The Niger Delta has unanimously resolved to resist any further attempts by the federal government to toy with Nigeria’s future by continuing to maliciously deploy the military in the region or attempting to deploy sinister divide and rule tactics against the region’s key actors.

“President Muhammadu Buhari is advised to personally and visibly head a holistic solution-seeking strategy that will prove his commitment to a robustly sustainable peace in the region, for there to be true unity, stability and progress in Nigeria.”

“We frown at the on-going farce by too many of President Buhari’s political friends and ministers, who are wasting time establishing so-called contact committees that will not resolve pertinent issues sustainable.”

The group called on the current administration to “return to the successful Yar’Adua template of 2009,” in addressing the problems of the region.

This is coming at the heels of Buhari’s assurance that he would use the available resources to rebuild the country, including the Niger Delta region for future generations.

Buhari had also assured that his administration is studying the gazette on the Niger Delta amnesty programme by the Umaru Yar’Adua administration with a view of completing whatever that is left of the programme.
