Fierce Shoot-out in Bayelsa as Gunmen Kill Two Soldiers and Kidnap One Foreign Expatriate

A foreign expatriate was abducted while two soldiers providing security for the construction firm, Setraco Nigeria, were killed by unknown gunmen on Tuesday during a shoot-out along Ogbia-Nembe Road in Nembe Local Government Area (LGA) of Bayelsa State.

According to an eyewitness who confirmed the incident, described the attack as an ambush because the soldiers who were on the security detail of the Setraco personnel at the site of the road project, came under heavy fire from the bushes.

Butswat Asinim, the police spokesman for the Bayelsa State Command, who confirmed the abduction of the expatriate, described him as 'a Lebanese expatriate, Ramzi Bau Hadir, aged 53 years,' adding that he did not have details regarding the two soldiers who were killed.

Meanwhile, Colonel Isa Ado, the spokesman for Operation Polu Shield, confirmed the killing of two soldiers saying, "Two of our men were killed in the early hours of today at Nembe junction, while one expatriate was abducted. It is saddening to lose these gallant soldiers, but efforts have been put in place to track down the perpetrators."
